Les Miserables

• Brunswick

Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Mis (as it is colloquially known) is a sweeping epic filled with heartfelt emotions from its many well-drawn characters. Centrally, it is about Jean Valjean, a fugitive, who is pitted against the tenacious Inspector Javert in a lifelong struggle to evade capture. This deeply personal tale, which also includes a promise made to a dead woman to care for her poor daughter, plays out against an historical backdrop of unparalleled scale as French students fight to free the oppressed lower class. “Maine State Music Theatre” Four professional musicals fully staged by a professional company in Bowdoin College’s Pickard Theater, Brunswick.
