Maine Maritime Museum is an independent, nonprofit institution connecting people to the past, present, and future of Maine’s waterways. In addition to our rotating and immersive exhibits, guided tours, an extensive watercraft collection, and kids playship, our museum is located on the grounds of a former shipyard, where the largest wooden schooner in the world was launched in 1909. How big was it? Come stand next to an evocation of the Wyoming, which is also the largest outdoor sculpture in New England!
Seasonally, the museum also offers daily lighthouse and nature cruises on the Kennebec, as well as on-site foodservice.
The museum is located at 243 Washington Street, and is open daily (except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day) from 9:30 am to 5 pm. There is so much to see at the museum, admission is valid for two days and since children under 18 receive free admission, this a perfect destination for the whole family.
